Frequently Asked Questions

Our interventions are typically delivered in schools, but we also support young people in the community when they’re not attending school, in environments where they feel safe and comfortable.

Although our work can positively impact mental health by boosting confidence and self-esteem, we are not a mental health service. Our primary focus is early intervention to prevent young people from entering the criminal justice system. Flipside young people do have access to The Warren’s counselling service.

We offer 1-1 support for young people in a place they feel comfortable. Conversations we may cover during interventions include:
Emotional Regulation
Positive Relationships
Sexual Exploitation
Online Safety
Behaviour in the Community
Criminal Explotation

As a trauma-informed organisation, we tailor time frames to each young person, beginning with relationship building and aiming to deliver interventions over approximately 3 months. We typically limit support to under 9 months to encourage independence and equip them with essential skills.

Since our project is voluntary, we need the young person’s engagement and consent.

We use the ARC (Attachment, Regulation, and Competency) framework to deliver targeted interventions for children, while also offering advice and information to caregivers. If there’s a risk of exploitation, we can refer to our parenting worker and may involve external agencies to support caregivers as needed.

Through Flipside I have done work around online safety. My worker has helped me understand what is safe to share online and what isn’t. It’s made me more aware about how to be safe online and how to report things that don’t seem right. Flipside has helped me with my communication and its good because they know my triggers and what to do if I am triggered

My work with Flipside has taught me a lot about consent and has helped me recognise what is healthy in a relationship. I’ve really enjoyed coming into The Warren doing all the activities, it’s given me stuff to do and I’ve met some nice new people. I see my Flipside worker in school as I’m back in education now and I hope they can help me finish year 11 and get through the stress on my exams
