Support for young people at risk of exploitation

FLIPSIDE is a project delivered by The Warren and Cornerhouse. We work with young people at risk of entering into the criminal justice system, offering 1-1 support and delivering a range of interventions to help them feel confident in making decisions about their own lives. We specialise in having conversations around healthy relationships, emotional regulation and online safety and work with many neurodiverse young people to help them navigate these topics.

FLIPSIDE are also able to offer opportunities to be a part of different communities and explore hobbies and interests through the wider projects delivered at The Warren, these include;

  • COUNSELLING - confidential person-centred counselling
  • WORK IT OUT - active therapy, sports and activities
  • WARREN RECORDS - free-to-use rehearsal spaces and recording studios
  • COMPLEMENTARY THERAPY - including meditation, reiki and sound bathing
  • THE CURVE - digital skills hub with state-of-the-art equipment, including 3D printers and digital design programs
  • SCRAN - fully equipped kitchen to learn how to prepare and cook food
  • ACHIEVE - support with education, training and employment

We support young people who are:

  • Aged 11-19 and living in Hull
  • At risk of/are being criminally or sexually exploited
  • Displaying controlling behaviours towards partners or family

“Flipside have helped me by building up my confidence with boxing and my worker has helped me in the gym and teaching me what to do, having a free membership has given me a new hobby which I can put my energy into, this has been very positive for me and my mental health, and steered me away from crime”

“Through Flipside I have done work around online safety. My worker has helped me understand what is safe to share online and what isn’t. It’s made me more aware about how to be safe online and how to report things that don’t seem right. Flipside has helped me with my communication and its good because they know my triggers and what to do if I am triggered”

“My work with Flipside has taught me a lot about consent and has helped me recognise what is healthy in a relationship. I’ve really enjoyed coming into The Warren doing all the activities, it’s given me stuff to do and I’ve met some nice new people. I see my Flipside worker in school as I’m back in education now and I hope they can help me finish year 11 and get through the stress on my exams”
