BLACK HOLES is a brilliantly simple concept designed by us - the young people of The Warren Youth Project - to help schools and colleges. We didn’t have a very positive experience of our time at school and college, but we don’t want to waste time on negative energy by criticising schools – we would much rather be supportive and positive. And that’s why we came up with the Black Holes idea – a really caring way of helping school communities.

We were inspired by Professor Stephen Hawking who proved that Black Holes were not simply dead matter – but were actually full of the history of time. We identified with that because we felt that we were sometimes seen as having nothing to offer – but actually we do!

What's the ask?

It’s really simple – we would like every school in England to recruit somebody to their Board of Governors who identifies as having had a poor experience of education, how you do that is entirely up to you. Their role would be to simply give schools an additional perspective that might help that school to have a better understanding of why some young people may not be having the best experience and to support that school to give that young person a better chance of becoming their best self.

Fill out the pledge form which will then allow you to access the Black Holes posters and logos and graphics that you can use on your school literature however you please. We don’t want to control how you do that – we just want you to feel part of something really special and caring that has been designed by young people to support other young people.
