Black Holes is a simple but powerful concept designed by the young people of The Warren Youth Project to support schools and colleges across England. Many of us did not have positive experiences in education. Rather than criticising schools, we wanted to create something constructive, caring, and supportive — a way to help school communities better understand young people who may be struggling.
Offer an additional perspective
Help schools better understand why some young people struggle
Support schools to give those young people a better chance to thrive
The idea
We’re calling on every school in England to recruit at least one person to their Board of Governors who identifies as having had a poor experience of education themselves.
Why Black Holes matters
It’s about valuing lived experience, understanding hidden stories, and creating education systems where more young people feel seen and supported.

Black Holes
At the heart of Black Holes are the young people who created it. Their lived experiences show the real impact of listening, understanding, and inclusive education.
